Upchurch the redneck
Ryan Upchurch, or as most folks know him Upchurch the Redneck, is a man who wears many hats. He is a comedian, a musician, an actor, and an activist against bullying. Any one of those would be more than enough for most people. But for Upchurch, it’s only the beginning.
His rise to fame began with his eponymous YouTube channel, which he started in 2014. Within four months it had over a hundred thousand subscribers, and now his social media following totals over three million. It was here that his signature brand of creativity came to the forefront, mixing his southern roots with fun times and a sharp wit. It was here that his trademark phrase of “Raise hell and Eat Cornbread” was coined, as he put out his first single.
The success of that phrase spawned a clothing line, and started the RHEC craze. Seeing how popular the line had become, Redneck Nation quickly sponsored the production. The brand continues to grow with each passing month, becoming a staple for his fans.
In May of 2015 he released a hick-hop EP, Cheatham County, named for the place of his birth. It quickly climbed to within the top 30 on both the Country and Rap charts. Building on this success, he began working on his follow up full length album.
